City and "Virtual" Wine Experience

This tour option is designed for
those with limited time and wishing to have a great overview of
the City that normally would involve several tours over a couple
of days. You will take in areas that you would not normally
visit on your own (those "off the track" sights)
including from the air.
This tour, features a
combination of our most popular itinerary and the latest
attraction, being the
"Virtual Wine Tour"
We depart from directly outside the
Napier Visitor i-SITE
Centre on the Marine Parade at 1.00pm or at a time or at
your local accommodation to
suit you on the day.
The tour, commences on the Marine Parade,
we then tour inner City, exploring the Art Deco and the
uniqueness of this fantastic City, from the Earthquake
in 1931 to current day. We move on to three lookouts
across the length of Napier's Hill district, learning
and discovering what today is land, until 1931 was
seabed, and hear some stories associated with the change. With
the aid of images from the past, you will get to
understand the effect the earthquake had on the region.
We will explore the Highlights that are away
from the City Centre also, and the National Tobacco Building
is just one of those we will discover. After we tour the
Port Suburb of Ahuriri, and the old Port of Napier, we
will move on and visit the oldest Winery in New Zealand,
the Mission Winery. Here we will learn the History and
see the changes, via a series of old images
taken around 100 years ago.
As we head back toward Napier, via Church
Road Winery, and the Suburb of Taradale, we will pass
the "old racecourse" and view an Art Deco housing estate
as we make our way back to Napier City to enjoy Wine tasting
and a virtual Tour of the Wine region...This really is a Tour you do
not want to miss.
Join us on this very unique Virtual Wine
Experience and Tour. This is a very first for Napier, and a
very important aspect of this concept is that
participants don’t have to be wine aficionados to enjoy
it. At your own pace, you enter into an intimate aroma
room. Here you are able to tease your senses with the
beautiful aromas different wines produce, maybe pit your
senses against others in your group as you discover
exactly what the scents flavours actually are. In this
antechamber they are able to experience the individual
smells associated with red or white wines.
With nasal passages adequately primed, we
then move into a Cinema room to experience a "virtual"
magical flight, and Wine tasting, in an old Bi-plane. We
start over Napier City, out over the coast line of Cape
Kidnapers, diving down along beautiful river beds,
viewing fantastic vistas of the region, until finally
arriving on the ground at several local wineries, to watch and
listen to the individual Wine Makers talk you through
their selected wines as you taste the product from the
comfort of your seat. This wine tasting experience is
repeated several times, as you sample several different
wines, each with their individual Wine Maker, talking
you through the tasting experience.
This is one "Tour" you really do not want
to miss while in Napier. The very "best of both worlds",
- approx 4 hours.

As with all out Tours, we have a 2 person Minimum.
