2011 - 2012 Season (current season)
Dear John, I am writing to you to say thank you for a lovely tour of Napier and surrounding area that you gave to Frank and myself (Judith). We were passengers from the ship - Radiance of the Seas. You were very informative and friendly, and we appreciated your time especially as we were the only two that booked your tour. When we had dinner that night, we were telling the other people at our table about our tour and they were quite put out when we described what we had done. Again thank you. We took this tour from our cruise ship rather than use the tour provided by the cruise line. From the time we made the booking in advance to the time we were dropped back off at the ship (on time, no worry about missing the ship here) I knew that we were being dealt with by a very reliable, professional, and knowledgeable tour operator. The tour was personalized to meet our needs and the ship's schedule. The instructions for meeting John on the dock were clear and precise and the tour started on time. It was an excellent tour - the best tour of the entire two week cruise and one of the best I have had anywhere in the world. John was very knowledgeable, provided background information about the sights, and used maps and photos to supplement his narrative. His love for this area of New Zealand was evident throughout the tour. The narrative was clear and concise and not laced with extraneous filler that some tour guides put in to fill "dead air time". The tour proved bathroom breaks and one really excellent surprise stop. There were lots of opportunities to take photographs and the stops at highlights (Te Mata Peak, Hastings, Mission Winery, Napier, etc.) were of an appropriate length so that we could enjoy them without feeling rushed. We just wanted to tell you that your tour was a highlight of our time in New Zealand. Our other tours were also very good but yours seems to be the best planned that we took. We had a marvellous time. As I was just choosing, then printing the photos from there, it brought me back remembering it. The Tea Room where we had lunch was such a perfect choice...so different, the city and it's buildings looking so clean & neat and the style so great. My family drank the Church Rd. wine we bought on Mike's 70th birthday party, last Sunday, and thought it was excellent. That VERY scary ride up to Te Mata Peak, and the spectacular views from up there, with the added show put on by the hang-gliders! 2006 - 2007 Season
We had a great, great time. New Zealand is such a beautiful country. We loved every port we stopped at, each had its' own uniqueness. Suzanne, did say Napier was the best, however. You were a great host! - Alex and Suzanne-Statendam Nov 2006
We, the 5 of us, really enjoyed every minute of our trip with you. The agenda you wrote us before was very good. We really saw so much, and every place you took us was just great. The Art Deco tour we took in the city with the special group, was great too. The beautiful place you choose for lunch was so beautiful and the food great, in a short way all was perfect. Your van is very comfortable, and you have tried to please us, and you accomplished it just great.
